Australia Moves to Legalise Medicinal Marijuana Cultivation

The Australian federal government recently announced plans to legalise the cultivation of marijuana for medicinal purposes, with Health Minister Sussan Ley confirming that draft amendments to the Narcotics Drugs Act 1967 to allow controlled cultivation of cannabis for medicinal and scientific purposes are currently being finalised.
Ms Ley said the changes will deliver a safe, legal and sustainable supply of locally produced cannabis products for Australian consumers.
“Allowing the cultivation of legal medicinal cannabis crops in Australia under strict controls strikes the right balance between patient access, community protection and our international obligations,” Ms Ley stated.

We applaud this more sane approach to cannabis legislation, and will keep you updated as it develops.
